Overview
We are a small practice service catering to 5,200 patients located in the area of Airedale, Castleford. Our practice is part of a forward‑thinking, well‑functioning Primary Care Network – Wakefield North PCN – and offers a comprehensive range of services supported by a skilled clinical and administrative team.
Clinical Team
Our clinical team currently consists of a GP, an in‑house Clinical Pharmacist, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a lead Nurse, two Practice Nurses, a Nurse Associate and Health Care Support Assistants. All team members are highly qualified and deliver general and specialist nursing services alongside efficient administrative and management support.
Practice Network and Support
We benefit from enhanced care services, excellent access to Sonographers, Mental Health Practitioners and Pharmacists, and a full infrastructure of support for finance, people and culture, nursing and quality, digital, IT and performance. The Clinical Lead GP will become an integral leader of our effective practice team, demonstrating a passion for high‑quality clinical practice, patient care and continual improvement.
Role and Responsibilities
* Develop and embed robust clinical governance systems, ensuring active participation by all clinical staff.
* Oversee clinical quality and safety frameworks, ensuring best practice through NICE implementation, significant event reviews and compliance with CQC standards.
* Lead on clinical strategy for the Practice, including improvement planning and quality assurance across the practice.
* Act as CQC Registered Manager and Caldicott Guardian for the practice.
* Collaborate with Practice Management and corporate services to drive service improvement and staff development.
* Support Practice Management to meet contractual key performance indicators.
* Coordinate practice education and clinical supervision, ensuring clinical staff remain up‑to‑date with policy and guideline changes.
* Provide supervision for GPs and non‑medical prescribers in line with the Practice Clinical Leadership Model.
* Ensure clear robust action plans are in place to support CQC inspections.
* Engage as a key stakeholder in the PCN to drive the latest innovations and effective practice delivery, fostering strong relationships with patients, APs, Clinical Pharmacists, nurses, GP colleagues, community and hospital staff.
* Manage a caseload of patients presenting with a wide range of health care needs within a primary care setting, working with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver a safe, high‑performing, sustainable, innovative person‑centred medical service.
Qualifications and Experience
GP with full GMC registration, licence to practise, entry on the GP Register and inclusion on a Medical Performers List (or eligible). Proven ability to handle a busy and varied primary care caseload and respond flexibly to workload fluctuations.
