Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to provide a high-quality administrative service to GPs across Shore Medical. This role is responsible for providing accurate, efficient and punctual medical secretarial and administrative support to Partners, GPs, Registrars and Practice Nurses.

Duration: 10 months, 30 hours per week based at Heatherview Medical Centre.

Hours: Monday to Friday (9am-3pm/11am-5pm). Shift patterns negotiable.

Hourly rate £12.60.

Background checks: Standard DBS, pre-employment checks.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide a high quality secretarial/administration service to the Practice and Patients.
* Efficient, fast and accurate processing and prioritising of referral letters from NHS e-Referrals and private sector, using a digital dictation system.
* Reconciling transcriptions on return from external audio transcription provider.
* Operate the e-Referrals computer system including requesting e-Referral appointments and monitoring status.
* Update patient records in a timely and accurate manner.
* Reconciling medical notes for new patients including summarising and coding.
* Code any incoming safeguarding documents.
* Keep GPs informed of updates as necessary.
* Deal with patient queries regarding referrals, including e-Referrals.


Experience

* Previous experience in a similar Medical Secretarial role.
* Proven experience handling confidential information.
* Proficient at audio typing.
* Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
* High levels of attention to detail.
* Proven organisational and time management skills.
* Competent in the use of a range of software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
* Minimum GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
