Trust Grade (ST5+ Equivalent) in Obs and Gynae at Scarborough Hospital.

York & Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has an ambitious programme of service modernisation and a reputation for providing high quality services. In line with our outlook, we are now inviting applications for this post, based at York and Scarborough Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will work at SpR level and join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology medical team at Scarborough Hospital. The Post holder will be competent in intermediate skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and engage in all the duties incumbent in that role.

This is not an approved training position; however you will receive the following;

1. Named clinical supervisor
2. Local Induction and information pack outlining internal training courses/opportunities available to doctors in these non-approved training positions
3. Individual Personal Development Plan and annual Appraisal - Individual access to the NHS e-appraisal system (funded by the Trust for posts that are six months or longer)
4. Funding and paid time available for study leave (£500 per annum pro-rata)
5. Support towards obtaining completion of training through portfolio pathway. You will have a designated clinical supervisor during your appointment and opportunities for support by trained mentors. Regular timetabled teaching sessions will take place to support the service-based learning.

We offer a Study Leave budget to all our Trust Grade Doctors of £500 pa (pro rata)

Qualifications and experience

Essential criteria

6. Has achieved MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
7. Satisfactory completion of Foundation post or equivalent
8. Part 1 MRCOG
9. European Advanced Life Support (ALS) Certificate
10. Evidence of experience in a range of obstetric & gynaecological specialties, with experience of managing patients in emergency situations at ST3+ level

Desirable criteria

11. 12 months continuous experience within the NHS

12. Registered with and holds a licence to practice with the GMC

Essential criteria

13. Ability to assess, recognise and initiate management of the acutely ill patient and play an effective part in advanced life support
14. Detailed working knowledge of safeguarding agenda, and its relevant legislation, policy and guidance
