Join Barking & Dagenham College as a Careers Progression Coach. This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive salary and London Weighting details provided below.


Salary

Base pay range: £33,929 - £36,796 inc. London Weighting per annum for qualified candidates; £31,337 - £33,035 inc. London Weighting per annum for unqualified candidates. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.


The role

You will report to the Progression Manager and be responsible for delivering careers guidance and facilitating sustainable post-course destinations for all cohorts of students across Barking & Dagenham College on a case-loaded basis, including disadvantaged students and those with EHCPs or inclusion needs.


Key responsibilities

* Provide careers guidance appointments for students.
* Provide regular careers guidance for disadvantaged students and SEND students.
* Provide regular careers guidance for students who do not intend to progress to university and who do not have an alternative progression route.
* Develop links with local employers, apprenticeship providers, and universities/Higher Education providers.
* Support college events for careers and progression, including Careers Week and HE fairs.
* Actively support the sourcing of work experience placements for students as part of their progression.
* Collaborate with Heads of Department to source suitable work experience placements for courses requiring them.


Qualifications and experience

* A minimum of Level 6 in Careers Guidance and Development or working towards one.
* English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 or above.
* Experience of working in an education environment or similar setting.
* Experience of providing information, advice and guidance on learning and work opportunities to diverse client groups; experience engaging with external stakeholders to create work experience and employment opportunities.
* Strong experience in advising on learning and work opportunities for a range of client groups, including academic and vocational routes (workplace and Universities).
* Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g., employers) in person and over the phone.
* Ability to manage a complex workload, meet targets and respond flexibly to changing needs and demands.
* Understanding of Safeguarding Legislation and its application within the educational sector.
