We have a great opportunity for a GP assistant to join a forward‑thinking service in Nottingham. You will be working within a fantastic team that offers a wide range of benefits.
Responsibilities
* Assist the GP/clinical team by liaising with outside agencies (e.g., call on‑call doctors for advice or admission arrangements).
* Perform administrative components of clinical audits, working with the Lead GP to ensure completion and dissemination of results.
* Support clinical compliance and governance alongside the practice team.
* Carry out basic clinical duties such as monitoring blood pressure, body temperature, dipping urine, ECGs, phlebotomy, immunisations and wound care.
* Organise clinical post, prioritise for GP/clinical team, and signpost to other staff (e.g., clinical pharmacist).
* Extract information from clinical letters for coding and add to notes according to agreed protocols.
* Review laboratory results and act in accordance with agreed protocols.
* Arrange appointments, referrals, tests and follow‑up appointments for patients.
* Proactively contact patients to arrange appointments or follow‑ups.
* Complete basic forms and core elements for GP approval and sign‑off (e.g., insurance, mortgage, benefits agency forms).
* Attend and contribute to various internal and external meetings as requested.
* Ensure good working relationships with clinical and non‑clinical staff and report any problems to the relevant person.
Qualifications
* Reception or customer care experience (essential).
* Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
* Well presented.
* PC skills – basic Word, Excel and e‑mail.
* Ability to work within processes/procedures.
* Personable, polite and patient, with empathy for patients who may be anxious or difficult.
* Ability to remain calm in fraught circumstances.
* Maintain confidentiality and data security.
* Apply common sense when dealing with non‑standard situations.
* Adaptable and comfortable dealing with changing priorities.
* Flexible to work different shifts as required by business needs.
* Team player.
* Understanding of confidentiality and ability to use own judgment.
