Sessional Engagement Worker
Location: South Gloucestershire
Start date: ASAP (dependent on completion of satisfactory reference and DBS checks)
Contract: Permanent
Working Hours: Part time (12 hours per week across 3 evenings, including Mondays 3-9pm, Tuesdays pm and Fridays pm)
Starting salary: £23,000 FTE per annum, pro-rata to £7,885.71 per annum.

We support children and young people living in Bristol, South Glos and the surrounding areas, providing engaging play and youth work embedded in communities. We also provide personalised part-time and full-time alternative education environments for children and young people to overcome barriers to engagement and learning.

Job Purpose
As a Sessional Engagement Worker you will work as part of a team whose aim is to provide a safe space that contributes to the social and mental wellbeing of local young people. Your role will be to enhance young people's self-development through their participation in activities and discussions, and their involvement in the running of the centre, with an emphasis on having fun.
In this role, your primary areas of responsibility will be:
* To participate in the running of a programme of activities, services and facilities.
* To participate in the overall management of the unit
* To promote and encourage participation and the empowerment of young people
* To promote good equal opportunities practices and to take positive steps to counter discrimination however and wherever it occurs
* To attend meetings, and prepare reports as required
* To contribute to service planning
The skills and experience that you will bring to this role are:
Essential:
* Warm and approachable personality
* A belief in young people and a basic understanding of attachment and trauma
* To be open minded and accepting of others
* Commitment to the development, understanding and implementing of Equal Opportunities
* Practical approach to problem solving
* Literacy and numeracy skills
* A willingness to work towards a youth work qualification is essential

* A record of achievements with young people
* Experience of working with young people
* Any qualification/training relevant to personal care and/or working with young people

Accountable for: This role has no direct reports
