The Physics Department is looking to recruit a proactive, enthusiastic person to the role of Superintendent and Departmental Safety Officer. This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for managing a small (9) technical team, ensuring robust safety governance, and contributing to the Department’s long-term strategic plan. You will lead and oversee all aspects of departmental safety governance, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

You will

1. Act as the Department’s lead technical authority, providing expert advice to senior management, key stakeholders and all members of the Department.
2. Represent technical support at senior management and committee meetings, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
3. Develop and implement technical and safety strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
4. Manage departmental resources effectively, including budget planning, financial oversight, and resource allocation.
5. Monitor performance, risk, and compliance metrics, ensuring appropriate reporting and continuous improvement.
6. Be the Departments primary contact and lead for projects with the University’s Facilities division and pro-actively monitor building infra structure to maintain functionality.
