About the Role:
A Senior Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing the complete procurement process for
the projects. This includes procurement planning, supplier negotiations, contract and stock
management, obtaining quotations, ensuring quality and compliance, cost optimization and overseeing
logistics and delivery. The role requires strong technical knowledge of cable specifications, supply chain
management expertise, and strict adherence to regulatory and organisational procurement
requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop detailed procurement plans for cables, including defining requirements, quantities,
and deadlines of the projects.
• Review specifications and requirements for the procurement of grid-scale equipment (e.g.,
transformers, switchgear, cables, etc.).
• Identify, evaluate, and pre-qualify potential suppliers; negotiate contract terms, pricing, and
delivery schedules to secure optimal value.
• Provide procurement data and spend analysis to senior management and project teams for
strategic decisions.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure timely and compliant delivery, resolving issues as
required.
• Oversee stock/inventory levels for cable materials, balancing project needs with cost efficiency.
• Implement and monitor rigorous quality control procedures, ensuring cables meet technical
and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate logistics to ensure smooth transport of cables from suppliers to project sites.
• Monitor contract performance, address non-compliance or delivery risks, and maintain
documentation throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with laws, regulations and internal policies.
• Provide procurement advice to project and engineering teams, supporting specification
development and contract variations.
Qualifications & Training:
• Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy,
or related field.
• MCIPS or working towards CIPS membership is highly desirable.
• Training in contract management, project procurement, or renewable energy supply chains is
advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, contract law, and UK regulations.
• Ability to analyse supplier markets, identify risks and opportunities, and optimize cost.
• Knowledge of public procurement regulations, health and safety policies, and compliance
requirements.
• Technical understanding of renewable energy equipment, grid connection requirements, and
electrical systems.
• Critical thinking to address procurement challenges and optimise processes .
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects, multiple priorities, and large-scale contracts.
• Leadership and mentoring capabilities for junior procurement staff.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement/ERP systems.
Experience
• Minium three years of experience
• Proven experience managing complex procurement projects, supplier relationships, and
contract negotiations.
• Experience with grid-connected renewable energy projects, equipment procurement, and
technical specifications.
