Consultant Plastic Surgeon (Sarcoma)
The closing date is 03 May 2026
Due to retirement, we are looking for a Consultant Surgeon to join our Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery department. The role is offered on a full‑time basis; however, the team is supportive of part‑time hours to balance outside interests and commitments.
Whether you are embarking on your consultant career or looking for your next step, you'll find a welcoming, ambitious and collaborative department where you can make a real impact.
Devon provides the opportunity to build a rewarding and fulfilling clinical career while enjoying an outstanding quality of life. The region offers two national parks, dramatic coastlines, vibrant cultural cities and extensive outdoor activities.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a consultant ready to embrace change and innovation to meet the needs of our patients. You will join a collaborative, supportive and driven team of 14 Consultant Plastic Surgeons providing general and trauma care to patients across Devon and Somerset, based from the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford).
Ideally, you will have experience in sarcoma and lower limb trauma, however full training can be provided if required.
You will have access to state‑of‑the‑art facilities such as our new hybrid theatre, thanks to the successful £1.4m appeal by the Royal Devon Hospitals Charity to provide imaging technology that goes beyond what the NHS is funded to provide. Groundwork has also just started on our new £20m surgical hub at our Heavitree site in Exeter and our teams are piloting advanced AI tools across the Trust providing our clinicians more time to focus on patient care.
Tailor your job plan to explore your interests, including teaching, training, research and service development. You will join the Peninsula Soft Tissue Sarcoma Service and see first‑hand how our Sarcoma Pathway is providing a 40% improvement to waiting times as part of a one‑stop service for patients.
