National Grid is hiring a Lead Asset Lifecycle Engineer/Scientist - EHV/HV Insulation Materials Job Purpose Electricity Transmission (ET) is navigating through an exciting time as we evolve to meet net-zero targets for 2050. Joining us as a High Voltage (EHV/HV) Insulation Materials Specialist/Scientist in our Asset Management department you will support the development of all aspects of the lifecycle for electricity transmission equipment in the area of EHV/HV Insulating/Dielectric Materials – Leading the specification, design, development, maintenance and/or lifetime management in the field of EHV/HV Insulating/Dielectric Materials in order to provide technical expertise across transmission network assets. Focussing on transmission level voltage equipment between 400kV and 33kV, working at the heart of National Grid Electricity Transmission’s Asset Management and Engineering department in Asset Operations to meet the aspirations of Net Zero and the delivery of the Great Grid Upgrade. What You'll Do As a Lead Asset Lifecycle Engineer/Scientist (EHV/HV Insulation Materials) within the Asset Management - Substation HV Plant team, you will drive the development of all aspects of Transmission EHV/HV Insulating/Dielectric Materials providing expert technical knowledge across all transmission assets (depending on background/experience). Ensuring we support the delivery of our strategic and business objectives along with our environmental and regulatory commitments. To deliver detailed, expert technical and asset management knowledge in the field of EHV/HV dielectric/insulating materials across multiple technical/asset areas relevant to ET where required To drive the development and understanding of insulating materials that are integral to EHV/HV plant that the Asset Lifecycle and Network Engineering team’s support. Lead change, create and maintain policies, procedures, technical specifications, work specifications, internal standards and technical guidance within area of expertise Lead development of technical strategies within specific area of technical expertise Accountable for the leadership and development of virtual team working to take advantage of technology and methodology developments within specific area of technical expertise Undertake/Support Type Registration activities in line with relevant business procedure (if applicable) Communicate issues associated with area of expertise at all levels in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing (internal and external) Driving the development and delivery of innovation within the Asset Lifecycle team and in support of wider Asset Operations in ET Represent National Grid on appropriate national and international committees Support and mentor other members of the team About You will be a self-motivated person who is eager to lead in this technical field along with continuing to develop their business and technical skills, as well as the following: Essential - Numerate degree, or equivalent experience and membership or the ability to be a member of relevant professional body Desirable – Institute of Asset Management “Principles of Asset Management” certificate Knowledge and understanding of the principles of Asset Management. Demonstrable technical expertise in the field of EHV/HV Insulating/Dielectric Materials across all transmission assets where required. Ability to thrive when working to challenging deadlines. Able to communicate issues associated within area of expertise in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing. Don’t meet every single requirement? What you'll get A competitive salary in the range of £70,000 to £90,000 dependent on experience £3,000 p.a. market supplement (paid monthly) Flexible/Hybrid working – opportunity to be based from offices or sites across England and Wales, travel to our Warwick office and other sites will be expected.
