A teacher who is not a principal shall carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require: (a) if employed as a teacher in a school under the reasonable direction of the principal; (b) if employed by a board on terms under which he/she is not assigned to any one school, under the reasonable direction of that board and of the principal of any school where he/she may be required to work.
2) Exercise of particular duties
(a) A teacher employed as a teacher (other than a principal) shall perform, in accordance with directions from the principal, such duties as may be reasonably assigned.
(b) A teacher employed under paragraph 1(b) shall perform, in accordance with directions from the board or the principal of any school where he/she is required to work, such duties as may be reasonably assigned.
1. Planning
1.1 Planning and preparing courses and lessons;
1.2 Teaching pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work;
1.3 Assessing, recording, and reporting on pupils' development and progress.
2. General
2.1 Promoting the progress and well-being of pupils;
2.2 Providing advice and guidance on educational and social matters, further education, and careers;
2.3 Making records and reports on pupils' personal and social needs;
2.4 Communicating with parents;
2.5 Collaborating with outside bodies approved by the employing authority and Governors;
2.6 Participating in relevant meetings.
3. Assessment/Reporting
Providing assessments, reports, and references related to pupils, where appropriate.
4. Staff Development/Professional Development
4.1 Participating in staff development schemes;
4.2 Reviewing teaching methods and participating in training;
4.3 Advising on curriculum and assessment development.
5. Discipline/Health and Safety
5.1 Maintaining order and safeguarding pupils' health and safety;
5.2 Participating in school meetings related to curriculum and organization.
6. Public Examinations
Participating in exam arrangements, assessments, and supervision.
7. Review and Development of Management Activities/Administration
7.1 Contributing to staff recruitment, development, and curriculum management;
7.2 Participating in administrative tasks, including attendance and supervision.
8. Number of days/Hours of work
Full-time teachers shall work 195 days/year, with specific hours and duties as specified, not exceeding weekly teaching hours in primary or secondary settings.
9. Staff cover
Supervising pupils during staff absences, with conditions based on school size and policies.
