Electrical Design Engineer - Control Systems & Automation

Join a specialist engineering business designing bespoke web-transport and automation machinery for industrial applications. This is a hands-on Electrical Design Engineer role where you'll take ownership of electrical control system design, working closely with mechanical, software and production teams to deliver high-quality machinery from concept through to commissioning.

What You'll Do:
* Design bespoke electrical control panels for web-transport and automation machinery
* Produce detailed electrical schematics including control circuits, power distribution and safety systems
* Create wiring diagrams for motors, drives, sensors, actuators, HMIs and field devices
* Specify cable routing, connectors, field wiring schedules and termination details
* Generate accurate Bills of Materials for all electrical components
* Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (IEC/EN 60204-1, Machinery Directive, CE/UL)
* Support panel build, testing, commissioning and fault-finding activities
* Collaborate closely with mechanical, software and systems engineering teams
* Work with suppliers to select reliable and cost-effective components
What We're Looking For:
* Experience in electrical design for industrial control systems and machinery
* Strong background in control panel design and electrical documentation
* Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical or similar)
* Understanding of PLCs, VFDs, safety systems, motion control and industrial networks
* Knowledge of machinery safety standards and automation best practices
* Ability to work independently while managing multiple engineering projects
* Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering (degree, HND or equivalent experience)
