Financial Controller
Location: Lancashire
Salary: £60,000 per annum (some room to increase for the right applicant)
Reporting to: Group Finance Director
About the Role
An established and growing infrastructure‑led group in the North West is seeking a Financial Controller to take ownership of financial management and control across two operating businesses, including a recent acquisition.
This is a hands‑on, operational role, well suited to an individual comfortable working in a changing environment. Initially, the focus will be on strengthening financial control, rebuilding processes and delivering accurate management information. Over time, as systems and structures mature, the role will evolve into a more commercially focused business partnering position.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
* Full ownership of monthly management accounts
* Strengthening financial controls and addressing legacy process gaps
* Cashflow forecasting, working capital management and cash collection
* Budgeting, forecasting and KPI development
* Statutory accounts preparation, audit support and liaison with advisors
* Oversight of tax compliance including VAT, CIS and corporation tax inputs
Commercial & Operational Finance
* Act as a trusted finance partner to senior operational management
* Provide insight on cost control, margin performance and profitability
* Translate financial information into clear, actionable insight
Systems & Transformation
* Support integration of acquired businesses into group finance structures
* Involvement in ERP system implementation and process standardisation
* Drive improvements toward more scalable, system‑led reporting
* Contribute to preparations for a future shared services model
Team & Stakeholder Management
* Oversee small, site‑based finance teams
* Provide guidance to non‑finance stakeholders
* Work closely with central Group Finance, Treasury and Compliance teams
About You
* Fully qualified accountant
* Strong background in management accounts and financial control
* Experience working with manual or under‑developed finance processes
* Exposure to finance system implementations desirable
* Solid understanding of UK GAAP
