Role: Rent Account Manager
Contract Type: Fixed‑term contract/secondment opportunity for 6 months
Working Hours: Both roles are 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm
Worker Type: Hybrid Worker
Salary: Grade F – Starting Salary £32,597 per annum, rising to £35,412 per annum
Location: Harvey Road, NG8 3BB
Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Rent Team. As a Rent Account Manager you will deliver fair, supportive, customer‑focused housing income services, working proactively with tenants to maximise rental income and provide clear advice on rent responsibilities, arrears management and welfare benefits. You will build strong, trust‑based relationships, support tenants to sustain their tenancies (including those who are vulnerable or require additional assistance) and work closely with specialist agencies when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage both current and former rent accounts, agree realistic repayment plans, maintain accurate case records and take appropriate action in line with policy, which may include serving notices or supporting legal processes.
* Collaborate with colleagues across Housing Benefits, Social Services and partner organisations to develop effective solutions to arrears issues.
* Contribute to service improvement by analysing performance data, preparing reports, sharing good practice and helping shape the ongoing development of the Rent Service.
* Support tenants in sustaining their tenancies, providing advice and support to manage their rent responsibilities.
* Actively promote and uphold excellent standards of customer care in line with Nottingham City Council Housing Services’ mission, vision and values.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience working in a housing environment.
* Experience in rent collection and pursuit of rent arrears with working knowledge of legal procedures related to rent arrears and debt recovery.
* Thorough working knowledge and understanding of legal, statutory and other relevant provisions governing housing, with demonstrable experience in providing advice and support to tenants.
* Experience working collaboratively with internal and external partners such as Housing Benefits, DWP, Social Services, and voluntary agencies.
* Ability to demonstrate and promote excellent customer care standards and a willingness to participate in training activities necessary to the role.
