English Lecturer \n\nLocation: Croydon\n Salary Range: £28,244 - £40,113 (a market supplement may apply subject to qualifications, skills, and experience)\n Closing Date: 8 August 2025\n\nAre you a passionate and dedicated English educator looking to inspire the next generation? A college is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivational English Lecturer to join our supportive and dynamic team.\n\nIn this rewarding role, you will primarily deliver GCSE and Functional Skills (FS) English to a diverse group of learners. While the current focus is on adult education, the role may expand to include teaching 16-18-year-olds in future academic years.\n\nAs part of the English department, you will work closely with the Programme Manager and colleagues to foster a collaborative and innovative learning environment.
We are looking for someone who is committed to student-led learning and who can actively contribute to continuous improvement across the department.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDeliver engaging and effective lessons in GCSE and FS English\nAct as a personal tutor, monitoring progress and supporting students' development\nTrack and promote student attendance and engagement\nContribute to curriculum planning, development, and quality improvement\nParticipate in regular team meetings and College-wide initiativesEssential Requirements:\n\nA full teaching qualification\nProven ability to teach both Functional Skills and GCSE English\nMinimum of A Level in English Language (a degree in English is highly desirable)\nRecent experience teaching GCSE and FS, ideally within a Further Education (FE) setting\nExperience working with both adult learners and 16-18-year-oldsImportant Notice\nDovetail and Slate is a market leading education recruitment company.
