Finance Director
West Midlands
An opportunity has arisen for a Finance Director to join the team at Galliford Try.
As Finance Director for the West Midlands and South West region of Galliford Try Building, you will report to the Business Unit Managing Director with a functional line into the Building Finance Director and will sit on the Business Unit Board. You will be responsible for reporting on monthly business performance, variances against forecast, trends and working with the senior team to ensure business performance targets are established. You will have responsibility for the BU financial reporting on business performance, management accounts and financial forecasts. Additionally, you will monitor and direct the BU fiscal functions in accordance with GT company reporting standards.
What you will be doing:
1. Lead and manage the financial activities and finance team within the BU.
2. Provide support to the MD and CD of the business unit ensuring completion of the BU reports on financial manners in an accurate, complete and timely manner.
3. Ensure effective and timely financial reporting into BU/Division, on a monthly basis. As part of finance community, ensure Group financial processes are integrated within the BU, working with peers and the Building FD to ensure processes and ways of working are suitable and efficient for the organisation.
4. Preparing monthly finance board papers and present these clearly in monthly board meetings.
5. Participate in the development of the BU’s strategy and advise on the impact of long-range planning.
6. Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, monthly financial reports and financial trends for BU to enable the Board to fulfil their responsibilities.
7. Manage the annual forecasts process, through monthly tactical planning and review with all senior Directors/Finance Managers within the BU.
8. Attend budget and quarterly review meetings, presenting the financial elements.
9. Educate local Directors on financial issues that impact budgeting to ensure continued improvement of the process throughout their region.
10. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making that will affect the BU organisation.
11. Ensure effective financial controls are in place, including UK SOX controls.
12. Work closely with peer group to ensure awareness of industry conditions, activities, and trends and to promote enhanced communications and best practices within the financial reporting process.
13. Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of the introduction of new programmes, strategies and systems involving finance, and in particular to optimise the use of Oracle Fusion (Orbit).
14. Ensure all financial information and procedures comply with Group accounting standards and policy.
15. Carry out credit checks on customers and subcontractors seeking to minimise GT exposure and provide advice on this.
16. Cash management including weekly reporting, maximising cash where possible, and ensuring forecasts are accurate.
17. Manage the BU Limits of Authority matrix.
18. Producing miscellaneous commercial and financial reports as required
19. Carrying out PDRs for functional reports, identifying and developing career and succession structures to sustain the business going forward.
20. Dealing with half year and full year audit queries and managing audit requirements
About You:
21. Possess strong business and sector acumen and professional standing and/or possess strong knowledge of the Finance function.
22. Strong financial management and commercial experience and a demonstrable track record of supporting business growth and leading a Finance function.
23. Well-developed analytical and communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
24. Able to build strong financial management within the business.
25. Ability to present clearly and effectively, distilling complex concepts into simple concise business terminology.
26. A proven ability to formulate financial plans (long term and tactical) and ensure full engagement.
27. A motivational leader and strong team player, with the ability to operate and deliver in a changing and rapidly growing environment.
28. Works in line with the Galliford Try Leadership Framework.
29. Aware of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to company health and safety policy and procedures.

Technical / Professional Qualifications:
33. Chartered Membership of a relevant Professional Body - CIMA, ACCA, ACMA preferred.
34. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
35. Willingness and ability to travel across the West Midlands and South West
36. Fully conversant with Microsoft Office applications
