Seeking a suitable Personal Assistant (P.A.) to support a 15-year-old boy in Manston, Leeds (LS15).
Position Overview:
A Personal Assistant is required for 6 hours per week during term time and 16 hours during school holidays to support Filip, a 15-year-old boy diagnosed with Autism.
Filip has social and communication difficulties, sensory processing difficulties, severe learning disabilities, and hypermobility. He requires support with personal care needs, such as toileting and dressing, and assistance/prompting with feeding. The P.A. aims to help Filip access local community activities and learn to socialize within the wider community.
Filip is a happy, verbal boy with a pleasant disposition. He enjoys books, music, lights, local parks, swimming, and walks. He must be closely supervised at all times due to his tendency to run off, potential challenging behaviors, and lack of sense of danger and road safety.
Filip requires a P.A. for a total of 6 hours a week during term time and 16 hours during school holidays. During term time, the 6 hours will be used on weekends, and during school holidays, the 16 hours will be flexible and can be discussed with Sandra (Mum).
Qualifications:
Experience working with children/young people with Special Educational Needs (S.E.N.) is preferable. Demonstrable knowledge of support strategies for S.E.N. is essential in the following areas: thinking, understanding, learning, emotional and behavioral difficulties, speech, language, communication, sensory, and/or physical challenges.
Rate of Pay: £12.40 an hour at all times.
