Epson Telford Limited was established in 1987, we are on a 50-acre site and operate a 24/7 manufacturing site. We are the only European manufacturing and distribution site for ink cartridges and textile inks. These products are shipped to an Epson warehouse in Germany where they are then distributed throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Department: Injection Moulding
Reports to: Moulding Senior Specialist
Salary: £39,676 plus 17% shift allowance
Hours of work:
Standard days (throughout 6‑month probation period) – Monday to Thursday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Two Rotational (after successful completion of 6‑month probation period) – Week 1, Monday to Thursday 6:00 am to 2:00 pm and Friday 6:00 am to 1:00 pm; Week 2, Monday to Thursday 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Friday 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Main job functions
* Help the Moulding department achieve KPI targets, by ensuring all equipment is maintained and ready for production in a timely manner.
* Provide expert support and knowledge to Moulding engineers and technicians regarding the engineering aspects of the Moulding process.
* Coordinate and manage all aspects of maintenance for the Moulding Machinery and ancillary equipment.
* Investigate, propose and apply continuous machine improvements, ensuring all pre‑ and post‑data is captured to verify the effects of changes.
* Analyse QPM, customer complaints and machine performance, to ensure improvements are correctly focused.
* Mentor junior members of the team.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Ensure the health, safety and welfare of all staff within the department.
* Carry out relevant risk assessments and safe systems of work where necessary.
* Report all accidents and near‑misses and implement counter‑measures within a suitable time frame.
* Work towards relevant standards and procedures, ensuring all process improvements are formulated with product quality in mind. Assist production teams with quality issues and propose process solutions to reduce DAS levels.
* Update documentation where necessary to reflect any changes.
* Obtain multiple quotes and vendors to ensure quality of purchased items and control costs of new components.
* Ensure all work focuses on achieving plans and clears delays, communicating solutions to other members.
* Keep continuous improvement as a focus for all improvement projects.
* Support achievement of Q2E projects across the production department as required.
* Ensure all improvement work is controlled from cradle to grave and keep relevant members informed as the project progresses.
* Utilise the MUDA process to remove unnecessary tasks.
* Maintain good two‑way communication within the department.
* Assist with training requirements to operate the machine safely and efficiently.
* Ensure all activities are carried out in line with the company’s policies and procedures, paying special attention to turning off unused equipment and lights.
* Segregate all waste streams correctly.
* Investigate, propose and apply continuous process improvements and ideas.
* Promote and encourage company‑wide activities such as the Suggestion Scheme, SGAs, 5S, TQC activities.
Skills and attributes required
* Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
* Root‑cause analysis skills.
Experience required – essential
* High level of knowledge of Injection Moulding Machine Maintenance and all ancillary equipment.
* Experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance scheduling and systems.
* Experience within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
* Excellent communication skills.
Experience required – desirable
* Experience in Blow Moulding machinery maintenance.
Qualifications – essential
* HNC or NVQ4 in an Engineering discipline.
Qualifications – desirable
* IOSH or NEBOSH certificate.
