RWDI is seeking an exceptional individual with a minimum of 8 -10 years of relevant work experience to support our UK Air Quality team based in one of our Brighton, London or Milton Keynes, offices as Principal Consultant (internal title – Technical Lead).

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary individual to spearhead and expand our team of dedicated air quality professionals.. As part of this role, you will be responsible for providing holistic consulting services, working collaboratively and seamlessly with experts from other environmental and climatic disciplines within RWDI.

The role includes but is not limited to:

4. Leading and managing some of the larger projects within the team
5. Planning and coordinating technical aspects of projects mainly in the United Kingdom
6. Supervising and assigning data collection, modelling, post-processing, analysis, interpretation, and documentation of technical results
7. Consulting with and answering technical questions from colleagues, project managers, and clients
8. Writing ES Chapters and technical reports;
9. Assisting with the preparation of proposals, marketing materials and/or technical papers
10. Taking a lead technical role in internal and external project teams to ensure technical excellence and quality of analysis and reporting
11. Providing technical leadership to improve technical capability and capacity
12. Assisting in business development initiatives to support the air quality team
13. Contributing to RWDI’s global air quality practice initiatives and strategies, and sharing experiences and knowledge with internationally based colleagues
14. Monitoring, supporting and addressing performance of team members by conducting regular check-ins and performance reviews
15. Mentorship of our Air Quality team members to support their development

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following experience:

16. Bachelor’s degree, in applicable engineering or science disciplines.
17. Full understanding of the current regulatory/planning framework/technical guidance in the United Kingdom for air quality assessments
18. Deep knowledge of air quality dispersion models (including ADMS-Roads, ADMS 6.0)
19. Proficient use with GIS (QGIS)
20. Thorough knowledge of a variety of engineering analytical tools, experience of ERP systems, and MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint
21. Proven ability to act as the technical liaison between internal project teams, external clients, and regulators
22. As a minimum, full Membership and active involvement in the IES and the IAQM, and affiliations with other professional institutions relevant for air quality. Should be working professionally at the highest levels and pushing the boundaries of advancement in this field.

30. Aptitude for practical problem-solving and shrewd judgement
31. Drive to continuously improve processes and enhance efficiency
32. Aptitude for creating, and contributing to, technical innovation
33. Ability to travel occasionally
34. Full, clean UK driving licence

Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:

35. Post-graduate degree or doctorate in subjects relevant to the role
36. Experience with AERMOD, CALPUFF and/or other air quality dispersion modelling systems.
37. Experience in an expert witness capacity
