Job Title: Business Studies Teacher
Location: Reading, Berkshire, South East England. Employment type: Permanent, Full-Time. Salary: £165 to £245 per day.
Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective Business Studies lessons in accordance with the curriculum and examination board requirements.
* Assess and monitor students' progress through marking, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records.
* Develop teaching materials and resources that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
* Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
* Support students' academic and personal development by offering guidance and encouragement.
* Participate in departmental meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practises.
* Prepare students for internal and external examinations, including coursework and controlled assessments.
* Engage with parents or guardians to communicate student progress and address any concerns.
* Keep up to date with developments in Business Studies and educational best practice through continuous professional development.
* Adhere to safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all students.
Qualifications
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Business Studies, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related subject.
* Strong academic background in Business Studies or a related discipline at degree level or higher.
* Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to secondary education and Business Studies.
* Proven experience teaching Business Studies at secondary or further education level.
* Experience in preparing students for GCSE, A-level, or equivalent examinations is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively and engage students of varying abilities.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the Business Studies curriculum and current examination specifications.
* Strong subject knowledge in areas such as marketing, finance, business operations, and economics.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate students.
* Effective organisational skills with the ability to plan lessons and manage time efficiently.
* Proficiency in utilising educational technology and digital resources to enhance learning.
* Ability to assess student work accurately and provide constructive feedback.
* Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to student welfare.
* Further qualifications or training in education, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent.
* Experience in delivering vocational Business qualifications or BTEC courses.
* Familiarity with strategies for supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities.
* Additional skills in related subjects such as Economics, Accounting, or Enterprise.
