Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IP attorney to join our legal team in a hybrid role supporting both intellectual property strategy and business development/licensing efforts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of legal, scientific, and commercial functions — who can both protect innovation and enable strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent law, preferably within the biotech or life sciences sector, and experience with antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) or a closely related therapeutic area. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a lean, collaborative environment and is eager to have a broad, cross-functional impact across R&D, Legal, and BD.
Responsibilities
Intellectual Property
* Manage and develop the company’s global IP portfolio in collaboration with outside counsel and internal stakeholders
* Conduct IP landscape analyses and freedom-to-operate assessments to inform research and development strategy
* Support invention harvesting, patentability analysis, and coordination of internal IP review processes
* Serve as a liaison between R&D teams, internal counsel, and external patent counsel
* Monitor competitive IP filings and advise on patent strategy accordingly
Licensing & Business Development
* Support licensing activities, including due diligence, term sheet negotiation, and contract drafting/review
* Collaborate with Business Development on licensing strategy, deal structuring, and integration of IP considerations into business negotiations
* Assist with evaluating third-party IP rights, collaborations, and strategic partnerships
* Work cross-functionally with legal, scientific, and commercial teams to align deal strategy with scientific and business objectives
Education & Experience
* J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
* Registered to practice before the USPTO
* Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in biotech or pharma intellectual property, including patent prosecution, portfolio management, and IP strategy—preferably with exposure to antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) or a closely related therapeutic area
* Strong understanding of patent law, including U.S. and international prosecution, FTO analysis, and competitive landscape review
* Exposure to licensing activities and a desire to contribute to business development and partnership activities
* Excellent judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, and operate effectively across teams and functions
What We Offer
* Opportunity to join a mission-driven team where you\'ll contribute to impactful work, take on varied responsibilities, and grow quickly in a dynamic environment
* Competitive compensation, including base salary, performance bonus, and equity
* 100% employer-paid benefits package
* Flexible PTO
* Two, one-week company-wide shutdowns each year
* A commitment to your professional development, with access to resources, mentorship, and growth opportunities
