ROLE SUMMARY:

Reddam House Berkshire is a co-educational, independent school, housed in a Victorian mansion and set in 125 acres of wood and parkland.

Around 740 students between the ages of 3 months and 18 years are registered here (day students and boarders from age 11+). Children are recognised as individuals with unique skills to celebrate and given tailored support and guidance at each stage of their school career. Our structure of Early Learning School, Junior School, Middle School and Senior School means that every year group works with professionals who specialize and enjoy working with the students in their care.

The unique Reddam House philosophy and our formula for success are based to a large degree on the quality and depth of our curricula, cultural and sporting activities and especially our teaching staff, fully recognising that what goes on in the classroom between teacher and student strongly influences the success of the school.

We are looking to appoint a dynamic, engaging and reflective Junior School English Teacher (Upper Key Stage 2) on a full-time, permanent basis, to join a growing team of enthusiastic and committed Junior School teachers with varying levels of experience at Reddam House School, Berkshire. To be successful, you will demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and consistently teach inspirational and varied lessons with the outcome of raising student attainment even further. Experience working with Year 5 and 6 children is very beneficial.

You will also be required to play an active role in the extra-curricular activities run by the Junior School and/or elsewhere in the school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

All teaching staff are expected to:

1. Uphold the school’s ethos and values, maintaining professional standards and building positive relationships
2. Support the through-school and boarding community
3. Deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching, using digital technology to enhance learning
4. Use resources responsibly and act as school ambassadors
5. Promote high expectations and a positive learning culture
6. Provide pastoral care and pupil support
7. Engage in professional development
8. Contribute to the co-curricular programme
9. Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing, and support an inclusive school environment
10. Deliver effective classroom teaching
11. Plan lessons in line with curriculum requirements
12. Monitor progress and provide feedback
13. Assess and report pupil achievement
14. Contribute to curriculum development
15. Undertake form tutor responsibilities
16. Participate in trips and wider school activities
17. Complete administrative duties efficiently
18. Supervise classes as required
19. Liaise with senior leaders
20. Follow professional standards and statutory requirements
21. Adhere to school policies and procedures
22. Work collaboratively with colleagues
23. Support pupils to achieve their potential
24. Comply with safeguarding and health & safety requirements

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

25. Able to set high expectations and ambitious learning goals
26. Adaptable teaching approach informed by feedback and reflection
27. Strong subject knowledge and understanding of effective learning
28. Excellent lesson planning, preparation and assessment skills
29. Ability to monitor progress and provide feedback to improve outcomes
30. Commitment to high standards of pupil welfare and wellbeing
31. Proven experience teaching KS2, ideally Upper KS2
32. Strong knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
33. Confident use of ICT to support teaching and learning
34. Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work independently and collaboratively
35. Strong organisational and administrative skills with ability to manage workload effectively
36. Ability to contribute subject expertise within the Junior School
37. PGCE, QTS or equivalent qualification
38. Strong academic background and right to work in the UK
39. Commitment to ongoing professional development
40. Enthusiastic, positive and flexible approach
41. Ability to engage, motivate and inspire young people
42. Able to manage workload, work under pressure and meet deadlines
43. Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities and wider school life
44. Commitment to health and safety responsibilities
45. Demonstrable commitment to safeguarding, child protection and equal opportunities
