Salary: £11,938 (full time equivalent of£27,234)
Location:Cambridge, St Edmunds College
Contract type:Permanent, Part Time (16 hours per week)
We are looking for a green fingered individual who will ensure the efficient day-to-day upkeep of the College’s gardens and grounds.
Job responsibilities
* Perform basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, pruning hedges and small tree’s, removing rubbish, managing weed control, leaf clearing and watering the plants
* Plant and nurture plants, hedges, tree’s as required, including the maintenance of boarders
* Advising your manager as required of any garden pests or diseases and taking appropriate action
* Sweep all paths and hard surfaced areas around College, carrying out snow-clearing and frost gritting in the winter months
* Ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained in the correct and safe manner
* Keep the garden shed clean, tidy and safe
* Ensure the upkeep of the College, report any problems as necessary and help to keep the College litter free.
What we need
The successful candidate will have the ability to follow instructions whilst taking a proactive approach. They will be self motivated with the ability to work unsupervised and to a high standard whilst understanding the requirements of the role.
The successful candidate must have:
* Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety with the ability to comply with and update knowledge
* Full clean driving license
* Good knowledge of gardening, plants, lawncare and glasshouse work
