Job Overview
We are accepting applications for the position of Consultant Gastroenterologist. This role is part of the Salisbury GI Unit, which combines gastroenterology, surgery, emergency general surgery, and endoscopy services. The department provides comprehensive care for gastrointestinal disorders in both emergency and elective settings, aiming to improve services for the local community and region.
The team is innovative and seeks ambitious consultants to develop a modern, outstanding gastroenterology service. Subspecialty interests are encouraged, with vacancies across all areas of gastroenterology.
This role offers a RRP of £5000 and a relocation package up to £8000. Interviews are scheduled for 14th April.
Main Duties
1. Undertake outpatient sessions via phone, video, or face-to-face at Salisbury District Hospital and peripheral hospitals.
2. Perform upper and lower GI endoscopies at Salisbury District Hospital.
3. Participate in acute gastroenterology services on a 2-in-12 basis, including ward rounds, referrals assessment, and managing upper GI bleeds during working hours.
4. Contribute to department and hospital management.
5. Teach undergraduates and trainees.
6. Review job plan, undertake appraisals, and revalidation annually.
7. Engage in clinical governance processes.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* Completion of higher specialist training in gastroenterology and internal medicine or within 6 months of CCT.
* Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
Experience & Skills
* High competence in general gastroenterology, JAG accreditation for OGD & colonoscopy, and experience in managing GI emergencies.
* Subspecialty expertise (if applicable) in areas like Hepatology, IBD, ERCP, Nutrition, or Therapeutic Endoscopy.
* Strong teamworking, communication, teaching, and leadership skills.
