Compliance and Training Engineer
Location: Remote / Field-Based (primarily Southern UK)
Head Office: Bristol
Salary: Starting at £50,000 per annum, progressing to £55,000+ subject to experience, role development, and achievement of agreed milestones.
We are seeking a Compliance and Training Engineer to support the delivery of compliance assessment, management system, and training services to organisations operating within the electrical distribution and infrastructure sectors.
This role is suited to an individual with a strong technical background in electrical networks who can apply practical experience within a structured compliance and assurance environment. The position is remote and field‑based, with regular travel primarily across the Southern UK.
THE ROLE
You will undertake compliance assessments and audits in support of client accreditation and assurance activities under schemes including NERS, HERS, and relevant ISO standards. This includes reviewing evidence, assessing conformity, and supporting organisations to understand and address compliance requirements.
A paramount requirement of the role is the ability to produce clear, structured and accurate written reports. Reports must set out findings, conclusions and explicit actions required, and be communicated effectively to clients.
The role operates within a flat and effective management structure and requires a high degree of autonomy, professionalism and sound judgement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Desktop and site‑based compliance assessments and audits
* Clear, accurate and actionable compliance and assessment reports
* Development, review and tailoring of management system documentation for client organisations
* Support to clients through accreditation and audit processes
* Delivery of EUSR‑accredited SHEA Power training (remote and face to face)
* Technical and environmental assessments under contract arrangements
* Clear and professional communication of outcomes and required actions to clients
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Electrical networks experience as a craftsperson, planner, engineer or similar
* City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in an electrical discipline
* Current First Aid, EUSR SHEA Power and Manual Handling certification
* Strong written communication skills with experience producing formal compliance reports
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
* Electrical network design experience up to 132 kV
* Civils, cable installation and jointing and overhead line experience
* Experience within contestable or adoptable network environments
TRAVEL AND WORKING PATTERN
* Remote and field‑based role
* Travel primarily across the Southern UK
* Periodic attendance at the Bristol head office
