The Role:
As a Dining Assistant, you will be at the heart of our residents’ daily lives, ensuring that mealtimes are both nourishing and enjoyable experiences. Mealtimes are special moments in our home—a time for connection, comfort, and conversation. You’ll play a vital role in creating a positive dining environment while supporting the culinary and care teams.
Hours: 22.5-30 hrs -mix of hours (early 7.30-3pm, late shifts 1-8pm ,1-9pm 11-8pm ) every 2nd weekend off.
Main Responsibilities
· Assisting with the setup of dining areas, ensuring tables are neatly laid with appropriate cutlery, crockery, and décor to create a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.
· Welcoming residents to the dining room, offering friendly, patient, and attentive assistance to ensure they feel comfortable and relaxed.
· Serving food and beverages in accordance with residents’ dietary requirements and preferences, always observing the highest standards of food hygiene and presentation.
· Providing assistance to residents who may need extra help with eating or drinking, following individual care plans and respecting personal dignity at all times.
· Engaging in warm, meaningful interactions with residents, encouraging them to express their choices and preferences regarding meals.
· Clearing tables and ensuring the dining area is kept clean, tidy, and safe, in line with our health and safety policies.
· Liaising with kitchen staff to communicate residents’ feedback, special dietary needs, or requests promptly and effectively.
· Supporting themed mealtimes, celebrations, and special occasions, contributing to a joyful and inclusive sense of home.
· Complying with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations, including those relating to safeguarding, health & safety, and confidentiality.

· Experience: Previous experience in care, hospitality, or catering is advantageous but not essential. Full training will be provided.
· Right to work: Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, satisfactory Disclosure PVG check, and references required before employment can commence.

No two days are the same, and your role as a Dining Assistant will be varied and rewarding. Your day will begin by greeting residents with a warm smile as you serve them and assist them with breakfast ensuring that their nutritional needs are met in accordance with their care plan. Keeping records of individuals diet and fluids throughout the day is an important aspect of the job, as well as liaising required information to nursing staff.
Ensuring the dining room is setup and tables laid for lunch and dinner and assisting with the service of food along with providing assistance of eating and drinking for those who require support will be the most significant part of your day.
Service of tea and delicious home baking throughout the day, where you will have time to chat to residents and any visitors to the home, contributing to the welcoming and nurturing environment of our care home.
You’ll have time to contribute ideas at team meetings and receive encouragement to develop your skills. Above all, you’ll be part of a team that is united in its commitment to providing the highest standard of care.
