The Work Package Engineer will be responsible for developing Construction Work Packages (CWPs) and Installation Work Packages (IWPs) to support the Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) process within Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCm) projects. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure packages are comprehensive, logically sequenced, and aligned with project schedules.

This role is full‑time on site in Teesside.


Responsibilities

* Work Package Development
o Create CWPs inline with the construction sequence.
o During the detailed engineering phase, develop CWPs with input from engineering that include construction drawings, specifications, material lists, and safety, health and environmental (SHE) requirements.
o In the construction phase, track the release of CWPs and support subcontractors by preparing IWP templates with step‑by‑step instructions, plant & equipment lists, resource requirements, material requests, installation sequences, and quality checklists such as ITPs and ITRs.
o Act as a link between engineering and construction, integrating technical information such as isometric drawings, installation diagrams, pipe support details, welding procedures, and termination details.
o Ensure all IWPs are construction‑ready and facilitate smooth execution without further clarification to meet schedule commitments.
* Collaboration and Coordination
o Work closely with engineering, technical systems, procurement, and construction teams to gather necessary information for developing CWPs.
o Coordinate with completions and commissioning teams to align work packages with system completion requirements and project handover processes.
o Participate in regular meetings and workshops to review packaging progress and address issues or concerns.
o Provide coaching, support, and guidance to subcontractor supervisors in developing IWPs.
* Schedule and Resource Management
o Develop a CWP release plan based on the L3 project schedule and track timely release to construction.
o Ensure timely delivery and release of IWPs, freeing the field from constraints.
o Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation for all CWPs and IWPs.
o Support resolution of outstanding work items or punch list tasks to facilitate smooth transition into system completions.


Qualifications

* Education: Engineering and/or construction‑related vocational qualifications.
* Experience: Minimum of 7 years in EPC or EPCm project delivery, with specific experience in work package development preferred.
* Relevant competency card such as CSCS/CCNSG or equivalent.

* Construction trade experience, including supervising field crews.
* Comprehensive understanding of coordinating and executing site construction activities.
* Proficiency in scoping and creating site work packages.
* IT literacy with basic proficiency and a desire to learn.
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and disciplines.


Desirable Skills

* Understanding of EPC/EPCm project lifecycles, processes, and interdisciplinary coordination.
* Familiarity with project management software and tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project.
* Previous experience creating work packages using an AWP delivery model.
* Experience with AWP software tools such as AVEVA ERM, an advantage.
* Ability to create and utilise 4D animations to visualise project schedules and work sequences.
