Job Description:
The Senior Finance Academy Officer role is a newly created position. This is an exciting opportunity to join DMAT, and we are looking for an exceptional individual to become part of our team.
The successful candidate will work closely with the trust Finance Director and will have the opportunity to help shape the role. The responsibilities are diverse; supporting senior leaders, our schools, and the trust to manage budgets, secure value, identify cost savings, and explore opportunities. You will collaborate with the Director of Finance, Director of Operations, and CEO.
Tasks
Under the guidance of the Finance Director, you will:
* Develop and manage school budgets in line with the trust’s financial policies.
* Monitor and report on financial performance, ensuring sustainability; support school leaders in achieving their objectives within budget.
* Identify additional income sources or funding opportunities.
* Provide financial guidance to staff.
* Collaborate with the Trust central team.
* Produce accurate and timely financial reports.
* Ensure compliance with employment law, safeguarding, and GDPR regulations.
* Maintain accurate staff records related to contracts and payroll.
* Adhere to Trust financial policies and ensure value for money.
* Ensure the school's compliance with relevant regulations, including data protection and statutory returns.
* Coordinate external and internal audits and inspections, ensuring full compliance.
* Facilitate internal scrutiny visits.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding trust finances and operations.
* Stay informed about changes in educational finance regulations and best practices.
* Provide training and support to staff involved in financial management.
* Authorize purchases and subscriptions in line with financial delegation schemes.
Requirements
You should have a strong background in finance, with a focus on compliance and accuracy, and be able to interpret and report on various data sets. You must work well under pressure, manage priorities, work independently, resolve issues, and stay motivated. You should demonstrate resilience, attention to detail, and organizational skills, producing reports within tight deadlines. Confidentiality and discretion are essential. You should be eager to learn new skills and communicate clearly and effectively with staff, students, and external partners.
