Senior Nurse - Practice Development (Cancer Care)
The NHS Lanarkshire Cancer Nursing Service are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic, and dynamic registered nurses. Applicants should have experience of working strategically at local, regional, and national levels within cancer care.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Nurse Consultant and Senior Nursing team to develop a person‑centred culture of learning, research, clinical audit, and continuous improvement of patient experience.
* Support staff development by utilising individualised learning portfolios aligned to Transforming Nursing Roles, NES NMAHP, ACCEND, and NES Clinical Supervision frameworks.
* Provide professional advice, consultancy, project and people management, and educational delivery to a range of staff groups.
* Lead and contribute to practice development strategies, research & quality improvement, and facilitation of multidisciplinary work.
* Apply evidence‑based practice, critical appraisal, evaluation and research to advance patient care.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Practitioner on the NMC or HCPC register.
* Minimum 5 years post‑registration experience in a healthcare setting, including at least 3 years in a clinical or educational leadership position (Band 7 or above).
* MSc or equivalent Masters level education.
* Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Education or equivalent.
* Evidence of clinical leadership through involvement in practice development processes.
* Contemporary knowledge of leadership, professional issues and development requirements of the NMAHP workforce.
* Excellent teamworker, communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge and proficiency in adult learning, presentation and writing/publication skills, group work/multidisciplinary skills, and research skills.
* Development in area of speciality, recent experience of working within cancer care, strategic level work, research & development environment, NHS and national quality bodies, evidence‑based practice audit, needs assessment and analysis, clinical guidelines, and clinical audit programme development.
* Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA driver’s licence.
Contract Type
* Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 months
* Part Time – 15 hours
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in the Cancer Nursing team at University Hospital Monklands. It may be considered for similar vacancies in other locations.
