The Opportunity
We are supporting a well-established, UK-based organisation, part of a international (50+ countries) group, operating within the infrastructure/engineering services/construction hire sector in the appointment of a
Finance Director
. This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for the financial performance, governance, and strategic direction of the business.
The Finance Director will act as a trusted commercial partner to the Managing Director and senior leadership team, playing a central role in driving profitable growth, improving financial visibility, and supporting operational decision-making across a multi-site environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Full ownership of the finance function, including financial strategy, controls, and compliance
* Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
* Deliver timely, accurate management reporting and performance insight
* Provide commercial challenge and support to operational and executive stakeholders
* Manage cash flow, working capital, and funding requirements
* Oversee statutory accounts, audits, and external reporting
* Lead and develop the finance team, embedding strong processes and capability
* Act as the primary finance contact for banks, auditors, advisors, and other external stakeholders
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a commercially astute finance leader with experience in operationally complex businesses.
Essential criteria:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
* Background in engineering, construction, manufacturing, hire, or infrastructure-related sectors
* Proven experience at Finance Director, within a sizeable business (£50m+)
* Strong commercial and strategic capability, with the confidence to influence at board level
* Experience operating in a multi-site or asset-intensive environment
* Hands-on leadership style, able to balance strategic oversight with operational detail
* Experience supporting growth, transformation, or change programmes
Location & Working Pattern
The role offers WFH, with more days in the office than not and is based in the North West - Merseyside / Greater Manchester borders.

Remuneration
A competitive executive-level salary, up to £115k, and benefits package is available, commensurate with experience.
