Position Description:

The Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of Garner Osborne Circuit’s manufacturing operations, including PCB manufacture, PCB Assembly and ‘box-build’ mechanical assembly, ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining quality standards, meeting delivery timelines, and optimising costs. The role involves leadership, strategic planning, and close coordination with production, quality assurance, supply chain, and customer service teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations Management:

1. Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective production of PCBs, PCB Assemblies and ‘box-build’ mechanical assemblies.
2. Implement and monitor production schedules to meet customer delivery deadlines.
3. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, IPC standards).
4. Lead, train, and motivate production and operations teams to achieve performance targets.
5. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration.
6. Conduct performance reviews and provide developmental feedback to the team.

3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

1. Ensure quality control processes are followed to maintain high standards.
2. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
3. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

4. Process Improvement:

1. Identify inefficiencies in manufacturing processes and implement improvements.
2. Drive lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to optimise operations.
3. Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve productivity.

5. Supply Chain and Inventory Management:

1. Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
2. Optimise inventory levels to balance cost and availability.
3. Collaborate with procurement teams to negotiate contracts and reduce costs.

6. Strategic Planning and Reporting:

1. Develop operational strategies in alignment with company goals.
2. Prepare regular reports on production performance, operational costs, and efficiency metrics.
3. Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities.

Education, Experience and Skills:

1. Proven ability to lead and manage teams in a manufacturing environment.
2. Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
3. Experience managing projects from conception to completion.
4. Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
5. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
6. Demonstrated success in an operations management role, preferably in a contract electronics manufacturing environment.
7. Experience and understanding of PCB manufacturing processes, materials, and technologies.
8. Experience and understanding of PCB Assembly processes, materials, and technologies.
9. Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
10. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably PCB or electronics manufacturing.
11. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (or qualified by experience).
