Administrator/Receptionist

Employer: Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust


Job Summary

We are recruiting 3 full‑time reception posts in the central team based at Fatima Health Centre, Preston. The post holder will work under the Administration Team Leader, greeting patients, booking appointments onto the Blithe/Lilie system, handling telephone calls, maintaining the office system, and working with the Sexual Health Service.


Responsibilities

* Meet and greet patients and visitors.
* Book patients onto the Blithe/Lilie system for appointments.
* Take and record telephone appointments.
* Check and verify clinic registration forms, including patient details.
* Assist with the management of negative test results.
* Maintain an effective and efficient office system under the guidance of the Administration Team Leader.


Person Specification


Education and Qualification

* Essential: Good general education.
* Desirable: ECDL qualification or equivalent and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).


Experience and Knowledge

* Essential: Experience in a clerical setting within the last two years.
* Essential: Experience dealing with the general public within the last 12 months.
* Essential: Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
* Essential: Understanding of confidentiality guidance.
* Desirable: Previous administration work in a healthcare setting (hospital or community).
* Desirable: Experience with databases and spreadsheets.


Skills and Ability

* Essential: Good written and verbal communication.
* Essential: Ability to work independently and in a team.
* Essential: Ability to follow instructions and understand health professional requirements.
* Essential: Computer literate, with good organisational skills.
* Essential: Self‑motivated, approachable, flexible to cover evenings, weekends and staff absences.
* Essential: Ability to work under pressure and travel to site locations as required.
* Essential: Understanding of record keeping and confidentiality policies in Sexual Health.
* Desirable: Awareness of systems such as Lilie.

This post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check as per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

Band 2
Salary: £25,272 a year pro rata
Contract: Permanent
