Paralegal – Post Completion Team (12‑month Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Birmingham City Centre


Overview

Gowling WLG is one of the UK’s largest real‑estate practices. The Post Completion team supports the Real Estate Transaction Support Team on pre‑completion and post‑completion matters.


Responsibilities

* Bespoke project support – handle large scale property schemes before and after completion.
* Search instructions – perform and manage pre‑completion and post‑completion searches within KPIs.
* Land Registry applications – prepare, review and submit complex applications using the Land Registry portal.
* SDLT/LTT – prepare and submit SDLT/LTT forms, manage payments and ensure strict deadlines.
* Legal instructions – advise clients on resale enquiries, deeds variations, covenants, freehold reversion sales and other tasks.
* File management – manage caseload for post‑completion matters, ensuring financial compliance with SRA requirements.
* Title reviews – obtain, review office copy entries and title plans, prepare registration reports.
* Communication – liaise with clients, MFEs, third parties and team members via phone, email and in‑person.
* Finance – create bill requests, finance forms and financial spreadsheets.
* Reporting – report to MFEs on instruction progress via Intapp and update spreadsheets.
* Collaboration – work with the Operations Manager and stakeholders to deliver improvement initiatives.
* Training/mentoring – develop training documentation, run sessions and mentor junior team members.


Qualifications

* Experience in a legal or office environment (desirable).
* High‑volume team experience.
* Real estate legal knowledge, including Land Registry portal applications.
* Sound knowledge of SDLT/LTT.
* Legal drafting and title review experience.
* Completion of CILEX course or GCSE qualifications in English and Maths (4‑9 or A‑C equivalent).
* High accuracy, efficiency and consistency.
* Proficient Microsoft Office skills.
* Case‑management system experience.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
