My client, a global media organisation, is seeking a Senior TypeScript Engineer to join their engineering team responsible for delivering the next generation of Business Insider's digital products. Role Overview As a Senior TypeScript Engineer, you will: Lead the design and implementation of high-quality TypeScript applications powering Business Insider's web platforms. Work across modern front-end architectures, ensuring fast load times, strong SEO foundations, and resilient feature delivery. Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to translate editorial and product requirements into robust, scalable solutions. Drive improvements in performance, accessibility, and reliability across the platform. Advocate for best practices in TypeScript, modular development, testing, and code quality. Contribute to architectural discussions and long-term engineering strategy within the team. Mentor engineers and support continuous improvement across codebases and processes. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain front-end features using TypeScript, React, and modern tooling. Develop reusable components and patterns that streamline development and improve consistency. Optimise the performance of high-traffic pages viewed by millions of users. Work within a well-defined SDLC with clear planning, estimation, and delivery processes. Contribute to CI/CD workflows, automated testing, and quality assurance practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical solutions align with editorial and product goals. Keep up to date with industry trends, frameworks, and emerging technologies relevant to modern web engineering. Required Experience & Technical Skills Strong professional experience with TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6). Deep understanding of React, component-based architectures, and state management patterns. Experience building high-performance, SEO-friendly, content-rich web applications. Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles. Experience integrating with APIs using REST and GraphQL. Familiarity with Node.js for build tooling and server-side rendering workflows. Experience working with Git, CI pipelines, and modern developer tooling. A pragmatic approach to testing (unit, integration, and E2E). Desired Skills Experience working on media, publishing, or other high-traffic content platforms. Exposure to Next.js, server-side rendering, or edge-rendered architectures. Knowledge of cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP, or similar). Understanding of analytics, A/B testing, or experimentation frameworks. Experience improving developer experience and front-end tooling at scale.
