Applications are invited for the role of “Clinical Lead for Spinal Surgery.” The post will be available from March/April for three years.
The Department for Spinal Surgery provides the Regional Spinal Service for the Thames Valley and beyond, both for emergency and elective services. The Service is housed within the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. Close links exist with Neuro-Intensive Care, Neurosurgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics.
To lead the department, we are looking for individuals with clinical experience of Spinal Surgery, as well as strong communication and negotiating skills, and a strong ethos for collaborative working.

Main duties of the job
The Clinical Lead for Spinal Surgeryis accountable to the Clinical Director, working with the Operational Services Manager and Matron:
·Providing clinical leadership within the clinical service, working collaboratively with the Service Manager and the Nursing Leads within the Service
·To work in a collaborative manner within the management structure of the Directorate
·Monitoring the quality and safety of activities and proposing and implementing actions to address any concerns in conjunction with the Matron and OSM.
·Planning the delivery of efficient, cost effective clinical services within resources available
·Promoting and leading innovation and improvements in clinical productivity and service delivery
·Ensuring effective communication between the specialty and the Directorate and Divisional Teams. This includes in person communication, as well as timely engagement with and replies to e-mail communication.
