This position is a term-time, part-time, permanent role.
22.5 hours per week.
Main Responsibilities
The science technician will support the biology, chemistry, and physics departments and will be responsible for:
* Preparing and setting out equipment and reagents for science lessons
* Maintaining and repairing equipment and lab apparatus
* Constructing and modifying apparatus
* Providing technical help to pupils during classes or projects
* Supervising Advanced Higher pupils during practical work, where safe to do so
* Remote supervision of ad hoc assessments in the project room
* Ordering and maintaining stock of consumables and chemicals, including items from shops like butcher and Dobbies
* Providing technical assistance during Open Mornings, activities, and extracurricular science events
* Accompanying school trips, e.g., fieldwork and activities
* Attending Health and Safety meetings
Health and Safety
Ensuring all chemicals and hazardous substances are stored and disposed of safely in accordance with COSHH regulations and school policy. Arranging and carrying out cyclical safety checks of equipment as appropriate. Assisting with the annual audit of science risk assessments.
Other Duties
* Collating annual school stationery orders
* Participating in the wider school community by attending and assisting with supervision at events such as the Carol Service, St Margaret’s Day Service, Sports Day, and Speech Day
* Attending staff meetings and relevant in-service training

If not already achieved, Level 3 Microbiology and Leakage Testing of Radioisotopes training will be undertaken.
