Lived Experience and Volunteering
Many of our volunteers are drawn to this role because they have lived experience of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence. We deeply value the insight and empathy that this experience can bring.
If you are currently receiving support or staying in refuge accommodation, we recommend waiting until your support journey has concluded before applying to volunteer. We understand that everyone’s experience and healing process is unique, and we don’t set a fixed timeframe for when someone can begin volunteering after support has ended. If this applies to you, we’d be happy to have a supportive and confidential conversation about it as part of the recruitment process.
