Role Details Role / Job Title: Digital Product Manager
Work Location: Warwick
Role Type: Contracting
Office Days (if Hybrid): 3 day in week
Role Overview In this role you'll be developing our digital products and agenda. You'll be delivering digital technologies to optimise energy generation, transmission, and distribution. You'll be overseeing the lifecycle of an entire line of products that will help make Net Zero happen. Many of these products are completely bespoke, designed and created in-house. You'll be involved in everything from product design to production, mapping the digital landscape and defining the long-term roadmap. This is a job for those with aspirations for future leadership. You'll be working on greenfield projects with enormous scope and multi-million-pound investment. You'll be given great autonomy and the opportunity to deliver meaningful change at the heart of the energy transition. Primary Responsibilities Communicating and building strong, collaborative relationships with senior management. This is the biggest part of the role. You will influence attitudes, decisions and actions for mutual benefit and keep colleagues updated on digital progress
Setting out a digital roadmap for your product line and implementing systems such as team structures and ways of working
Researching the market and introducing market leading digital products
Taking charge of a suite of bespoke products, such as our Workbook product, that provides transparency and visibility across the entire Strategic Infrastructure division, or delivering products to enable the delivery of huge infrastructure projects that will make a huge impact on the environment
Communicating the overall vision of your digital roadmap
Ensuring your team members build good relationships with relevant stakeholders. They must be professional, open, collaborative, and able to challenge others and be challenged themselves in an amicable, respectful way
Developing a well-balanced, cross-functional team by ensuring learning opportunities are identified and optimised, and people are given the support they need
Acting as the ultimate escalation point for issue resolution within your field
Managing requirements through the entire delivery and operational lifecycle
Championing the importance and value of requirement management principles
Planning and leading scoping, requirements definition, and priority setting
Making digital a reality, rather than an aspiration. Driving a digital culture and the adoption of products across New Infrastructure, in alignment with the strategic direction of National Grid
Building on enduring digital product capability to enable continuous digital improvement
Your Profile Product Management Managing and developing products or services through their full life cycle from inception, growth, maturity, decline to retirement. Manages the full product lifecycle to ensure that, over time, the needs of customers/users continue to be met and that financial and other benefits are achieved
Acts as owner/champion for one or more products or services
Selects, adopts, and adapts appropriate product development methods, tools, and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches
Analyses market and/or user research, feedback, expert opinion, and usage data to understand needs and opportunities
Develops product propositions and determines product positioning and variants for different customer and user segments
Prioritises product requirements and owns the product backlog
Coordinates trials and product launches and supports communications and training
Anticipates changes in customer/user needs; adapts products and creates product retirement and transitioning plans
Financial Management Supporting the effective use and control of financial resources. Advises on financial planning, budgeting, costing, accounting, and charging using recognised accounting practices and standards
Develops financial plans and forecasts
Monitors and manages expenditure and examines areas where budgets and expenditure exceed agreed tolerances
Contributes to the definition and operation of effective financial control and decision-making
Analyses actual expenditure, examines variances, and advises on options in the use of available budget
Stakeholder and Relationship Management Influencing stakeholder attitudes, decisions, and actions for mutual benefit. Identifies the communications and relationship needs of stakeholder groups
Translates communications and stakeholder engagement strategies into specific activities and deliverables
Facilitates open communication and discussion between stakeholders, acting as a single point of contact by developing, maintaining, and working to stakeholder engagement strategies and plans
Provides informed feedback to assess and promote understanding
Facilitates business decision-making processes
Organisational Change Management Planning, designing, and implementing activities to transition the organisation and people to the required future state. Develops the change management approach and a change management plan in collaboration with sponsors, users, and project teams
Creates and implements action plans to ensure everything is ready for the change before going live
Acquires change management resources and develops their capabilities to deliver the required changes
Gathers feedback to allow timely improvements to the change management plan and approach
Assesses risks and takes preventative action
Develops and communicates tailored change management plans for senior stakeholder groups
Provides guidance and makes suggestions to support change sponsors
Requirements Definition and Management Managing requirements through the entire delivery and operational life cycle. Plans and drives scoping, requirements definition, and prioritisation activities for large, complex initiatives
Selects, adopts, and adapts appropriate requirements definition and management methods, tools, and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches
Obtains input from, and formal agreement to, requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders
Negotiates with stakeholders to manage competing priorities and conflicts
Establishes requirements baselines and ensures changes to requirements are investigated and managed
Contributes to the development of organisational methods and standards
Methods and Tools Ensuring methods and tools are adopted and used effectively throughout the organisation. Provides advice, guidance, and expertise to promote adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards
Evaluates and selects appropriate methods and tools in line with agreed policies and standards
Implements methods and tools at programme, project and team level including selection and tailoring in line with agreed standards
Manages reviews of the benefits and value of methods and tools
Identifies and recommends improvements
Contributes to organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods and tools
