Exceptional Care is a specialist children’s residential care provider dedicated to creating safe, nurturing, and supportive homes for children and young people with emotional, behavioural, and complex needs. Our teams are committed to delivering outstanding care and achieving positive outcomes for every child.

The HR Advisor will deliver high‑quality, proactive HR support across the organisation, acting as a trusted partner to managers and employees. You will oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, absence management, safeguarding compliance, and employment law guidance within a regulated children’s residential care environment.

Main Responsibilities (but not exhaustive)

- Staff Engagement — Review, develop, and implement engagement strategies that enhance employee satisfaction and retention.

- Recruitment Support — Work closely with the recruitment team to deliver a smooth, compliant end-to-end hiring process.

- Employee Relations — Provide expert advice to managers on disciplinary, grievance, capability, and conduct matters.

- Data — Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee data within the HR Information System.

- Reward & Recognition — Manage and develop the organisation’s reward and recognition initiatives.

- Continuous Improvement — Contribute to the ongoing development of HR systems, processes, and best practice.

- Project & Case Management — Ensure HR casework and projects are completed within agreed timescales.

- Payroll Coordination — Ensure payroll is updated with all new starters, leavers, and contractual changes.

- Legal Interpretation — Translate legal advice into clear guidance for managers to support informed decision-making.

- Policy Development — Create, update, and implement HR policies that reflect best practice and regulatory requirements.

- Manager Coaching — Support managers to develop confidence and capability in handling first-stage HR matters.

- Process Improvement — Identify opportunities to streamline and strengthen HR procedures.

- Benefits Advice — Provide guidance on company benefits and support employees with related queries.

- Employment Law Compliance — Stay up to date with legislative changes and ensure compliance across the organisation.

- End-to-End ER Casework — Manage employee relations cases from start to finish in line with policy, procedure, and legal guidance.

- Employee Support — Build strong relationships with staff, responding to queries and managing expectations professionally.

- Values and culture-Driven Practice — Promote and model Exceptional Care’s PRIDE values in all interactions.

- Other Duties — Carry out any additional tasks deemed reasonable by your manager.

About The Role

Person Specification:

* Skills & Knowledge
* CIPD level 3 or above
* Communication Skills — Strong interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to build trust at all levels.
* Strategic Thinking — Ability to think ahead, anticipate needs, and contribute to organisational development.
* Employment Law Knowledge — Solid understanding of employment legislation, HR practice, and regulatory requirements.
* Conflict Management — Ability to remain calm, objective, and solution‑focused in challenging situations.
* Organisation & Prioritisation — Excellent time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Ethical Judgement — Strong morals, integrity, and sound decision‑making.
* Attention to Detail — High level of accuracy in documentation and data handling.
* IT Proficiency — Confident using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and HR systems.
* Experience & Requirements
* Experience in an HR advisory role, ideally within social care or a regulated sector.
* Full, clean driving licence.
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
