Overview
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust is recruiting a part-time (22.5 hours) Consultant Clinical Psychologist to join our Psychological Interventions (PI) Team working with adults with learning disabilities in Worcestershire. The closing date is 26 October 2025.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and oversight of the day-to-day functioning and governance of the PI Team.
* Work with the counterpart in Hereford and the Trust Lead Psychologist for Learning Disability Services to shape service development in line with national drivers and good practice.
* Provide clinical supervision and, potentially, line management to team members and empower them to share leadership responsibilities.
* Coordinate the provision of psychological interventions across the service with CLDT leads and develop creative ways of working within current financial constraints.
* Maintain a suitable caseload of people with learning disabilities and a range of complex psychological needs.
* Fulfill other elements of the post as defined by the individual development plan.

We are part of a wider multidisciplinary Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT) comprising clinical psychologists, behavioural specialists and an assistant practitioner. The team works within community settings across Worcestershire and collaborates with the sister service in Hereford.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience required specific to the role and clinical area
* Experience in developing research and development programmes within psychology therapy services
* Experience in teaching and training of trainee and post-qualification psychological therapists, and of non-psychological staff
* NHS/Leadership experience managing or providing professional leadership to a range of qualified psychological therapy staff (including recruitment, appraisal, performance management and clinical supervision)
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for the application of multi-theoretical psychological assessment, intervention and evaluation with a range of common and complex mental health needs
* Experience working within multidisciplinary services
Qualifications
* BSc/BA Honours degree at 2:1 or above in psychology.
* Post-graduate doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* Post-graduate level or above training and qualification in NHS leadership/management or equivalent leadership
* Eligible for registration as a Chartered Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) by the BPS
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
* Original certificates may be requested to verify qualifications at point of offer
