Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning? Long Term Futures is working in partnership with a trust of specialist SEMH schools in central Birmingham to recruit experienced and resilient Teaching Assistants. These schools support students aged 11-16 who have social, emotional, and behavioural needs, many of whom require 1:1 support to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience of working with challenging behaviours who is committed to making a meaningful difference in a supportive, structured environment.

* Use de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe, calm environment
* Build trust and strong relationships to encourage confidence, resilience, and personal growth
* Support pupils with social and emotional development through tailored activities and mentoring
* Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external agencies to deliver joined-up support

What We're Looking For

* Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour - essential
* A calm, patient, and resilient approach to managing difficult situations
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust quickly
* Confidence in supporting students who may display high levels of anxiety or emotional dysregulation
* A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is an advantage, but experience and the right attitude are what really matter

Benefits of Working with Long Term Futures

* Weekly pay through PAYE - no umbrella deductions
* Exclusive access to long-term roles across a network of SEMH and alternative provision schools
* Free training and CPD opportunities focused on behaviour management and SEN
* Dedicated consultant who understands SEMH settings and will support you throughout your placement
* Clear pathways to permanent employment for the right candidates
