Finance Business Partner - Special Projects - (2 year FTC)

Reporting directly to the Finance Director (Special Projects) with a secondary line to the relevant Business Unit Finance Director, this role will coordinate the timely delivery of all finance inputs from the Business Unit to support LGC’s strategic planning and track record development program.
The finance inputs and timing will be determined by Group Finance in consultation with Business Unit Finance Directors. The role will deliver these either directly or through the relevant Business Unit Finance team and Analytics business partners, with final approval by the Business Unit Finance Director.
The role involves interacting with senior stakeholders, developing strong relationships with Group and Business Unit Finance teams, Business Unit Senior Leadership Teams, other functions, and external advisors, primarily for financial and commercial due diligence.
The candidate should add value through understanding financial data requirements for an exit process and quickly grasping complex business aspects, ensuring inputs meet due diligence requirements.
Examples of finance inputs include:
1. A detailed 5-year forecast, strategic and operating model, and supporting data points linked to the Business Unit’s financial history.
2. Explanations of key performance trends across financial statements.
3. Supporting SLT members in strategy development in areas like e-commerce, regional growth, new product development, and site footprint.
4. Analysis of historical and forecasted headcount and costs.
5. Data on efficiency, productivity, procurement benefits, and capital investment returns.
6. Data supporting Commercial Due Diligence, including market analysis, customer segmentation, pricing, and competitor analysis.
7. Review of M&A track record and synergy delivery.
The role also involves preparing responses to investor questions within a quality review framework. The ideal candidate will be an experienced M&A professional with strong financial due diligence, data analytics, and business modeling skills, able to work independently and communicate effectively.
Specific requirements include:
* Degree: 1st or 2.1
* M&A transaction experience, including due diligence and integration support
* Qualified accountant
* Strong reporting and analytical skills
* Advanced MS Excel and modeling skills
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Problem-solving ability and quick learner
