Hutchison Ports – Port of Felixstowe is the UK’s largest deep‑water container port and a key gateway for global trade. We are currently looking for an Accounting Technician to join our Finance team, supporting the delivery of accurate, compliant and efficient financial processes across the business.
This role plays an important part in maintaining financial integrity, governance and operational efficiency, providing financial, administrative and systems support within the Finance function. You will be involved in a wide range of accounting activities including journals, reconciliations, treasury support and financial reporting, while contributing to continuous improvement across finance processes and systems.
Working closely with the Management Accountant and wider Finance team, you will help ensure financial data is accurate, timely and compliant with company policies and external requirements.

Role Overview
Key responsibilities include:
1. Prepare, review and post monthly journals, ensuring accuracy across Group financial systems.
2. Carry out balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis, resolving discrepancies across areas such as payroll, intercompany and work in progress.
3. Support the integrity of financial systems, including interface checks and system reconciliations, resolving any issues identified.
4. Assist with month‑end processes, including system close down and coordination of reporting timelines.
5. Perform treasury activities, including daily reconciliations, weekly cash reporting and month‑end cash journals.
6. Maintain and support the fixed asset register, including reporting, verification and system updates.
7. Assist with group consolidation and statutory reporting, including submissions to the Office of National Statistics.
8. Provide supporting information for management accounts and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures.
9. Carry out stock counts as an independent Finance representative.
10. Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures and controls, identifying opportunities for improvement.
What you need:
· At least 1 year’s experience within a Finance function.
· AAT qualification or willingness to work towards one.
· Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
· Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
· High attention to detail and ability to work accurately with financial data.
· Good organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines and multiple tasks.
· Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholders.
Shifts & Pay:
· Basic salary: Up to £37,438 depending upon experience.
· Hours: per week – Monday to Friday
