About the Role
:
As a Water Technician within our Maidstone branch, you will be working across NHS and
mental health buildings. The main role will be to visit NHS sites and carry out tasks to ensure water compliance with all relevant Legionella legislation and regulations.
Mears Kent FM Branch operates across two NHS Trusts – Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) and Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT). The role requires working in environments including active wards and mental health settings.
Day-to-day Duties:
1. Carry out all aspects of ACOP L8 4TH Edition 2013 compliant Legionella monitoring regime including:Monthly Temperature monitoring of sentinel and representative outletsQuarterly showerhead cleaning and descalingVisual inspection of cold-water storage tanksCalorifier inspection, cleaning and purging
2. Undertake basic building and water system surveys in relation to water compliance
3. Carry out potable water sampling for Legionella and TVC where required
4. Clean and disinfect cold-water storage tanks (training can be provided)
5. Service and maintain thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs)
6. Maintain accurate site logbooks and records
7. Produce job reports and compliance certificates
8. Produce simple line diagrams
9. Liaise with customers and provide feedback where required
10. Always act in accordance with Mears Group policies, processes and systems
11. Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001 standards
12. Support and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Water Hygiene function
Role Criteria:
13. City & Guilds Legionella Awareness qualification
14. Experience working to current industry standards
15. Familiarity with domestic and commercial water systems, including layout and operation
16. Ability to use industry-related tablet and software systems
17. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
18. Experience working within a facilities management environment
19. Full UK driving licence
