Contract Type: Temporary – covering a phased return to work and new starter onboarding
Start Date: ASAP (likely after half term)
Hours/Days: Tuesday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
Salary: BS 10–13 (£17.62 – £19.91 per hour, inclusive of statutory holiday pay)
The Supply Register is proud to be working in partnership with an established educational organisation in Deeside to appoint a Learning Support Mentor to provide dedicated learning support to students with additional needs.
This temporary position offers an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and proactive individual to join a supportive team, helping learners to access education and achieve their full potential.
Main Purpose of the Role:
To provide learning support for students on college programmes who have additional learning needs, ensuring inclusive participation and a positive learning experience for all.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Provide educational and practical support to students with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, or sensory impairments in the classroom, during college-organised visits, and at outreach centres when required.
Support individual learners or small groups who may require additional assistance during break and lunch times, or with transport arrangements.
Assist in providing access arrangements for assessments and examinations.
Maintain accurate records of learner support and submit updates to the Additional Learning Support Coordinator at agreed intervals.
Liaise with the Additional Learning Support Coordinator, Study Skills Tutor, and teaching staff to ensure a consistent and effective approach to learner support.
Attend relevant team meetings and departmental briefings as required.
Undertake appropriate staff development to maintain and enhance skills, particularly in the use of IT and assistive technology.
Promote and uphold Equality and Diversity principles, ensuring inclusive and respectful support for all learners.
Comply with Data Protection and Confidentiality legislation, safeguarding all learner and staff information.
Follow safeguarding and PREVENT procedures, undertaking mandatory training as required.
Adhere to college quality systems, policies, and procedures.
Maintain high standards of professionalism, communication, and conduct at all times.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/Level 2 or above, or equivalent.
Experience working with young people or adults with additional learning needs.
Understanding of learning difficulties, disabilities, and inclusive learning strategies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a learner-focused approach.
Competent IT skills, including Word, Excel, and digital learning tools.
Desirable:
Relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Learning Support, Teaching Assistant, or a related field.
Experience supporting learners within a further education setting.
Familiarity with assistive technology and inclusive classroom practices.
