This is a hands-on, fast-paced position supporting and leading Assembly Operators across multiple mechanical assembly areas — including CV/Aux, Modules, Mobile, 4V3 & 4V5. You’ll coordinate daily operations, ensure safety and quality targets are met, resolve issues quickly, and work closely with planning, machining, logistics and other support teams to keep production flowing.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives on structure, people leadership, and maintaining high operational standards while actively driving improvements.
What will you be doing?
Leadership & People Management
• Lead and coordinate Assembly Operators to meet daily and weekly production requirements
• Conduct 1-2-1s and performance reviews in line with internal processes
• Manage attendance, absence reporting and holiday tracking
• Provide daily coaching, support and feedback on the shop floor
Daily Operations
• Allocate workloads and monitor output against plan
• Ensure correct use of parts, documentation, tooling and test facilities
• Deliver to safety, quality, delivery and cost expectations
• Complete daily checks, reconcile documentation and maintain build accuracy
Tier Management & Communication
• Lead Tier 1 meetings and ensure updates are prepared for Tier 3
• Report KPIs and escalate issues affecting SQDC
• Keep teams aligned and informed across all production areas
Continuous Improvement & Engagement
• Maintain and drive 5S standards across all assembly areas
• Encourage kaizens, safety observations and problem-solving
• Apply Lean principles and support continuous improvement projects
Operational Control
• Maintain stock accuracy through cycle counts and good recording practices
• Monitor workflow end-to-end to meet departmental and plant targets
• Support robust, root-cause driven problem solving
What do you need?
• Strong practical knowledge of mechanical assembly
• Understanding of hydraulic assembly processes (advantageous)
• Experience in a production, operations or assembly-based environment
• Good PC literacy for reporting, documentation and tier board updates
• Clear awareness of customer deliverables and impact of quality
• Confident communication skills and ability to prioritise effectively
• A proactive, resilient, team-focused approach
