Job Purpose
The Director of Operations – Minds will provide strategic and operational leadership across all Minds services, including Children’s Services, Adult Services, and Private Services.
The postholder will be responsible for operational performance, service development, and transformation, ensuring services are safe, effective, financially sustainable, and aligned with organisational growth objectives.
This role is pivotal in translating strategy into delivery, leading senior operational teams, and operationalising new service models at pace.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Performance
* Provide senior leadership across Children’s, Adult, and Private services, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and patient-focused delivery.
* Lead and manage three direct reports at senior leadership level, fostering accountability, capability, and high performance.
* Ensure services meet contractual KPIs, quality standards, and financial targets.
Systems, Transformation & Improvement
* Lead systems transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and service integration.
* Identify opportunities for digital enablement, pathway redesign, and process optimisation.
* Drive continuous improvement through data-led decision making and performance insight.
Service Development & Growth
* Lead the development and operationalisation of new services, from mobilisation through to steady state.
* Work collaboratively with clinical, commercial, and commissioning teams to design scalable and sustainable service models.
* Ensure new services are embedded with robust governance, workforce planning, and operational controls.
Governance & Risk
* Ensure strong operational governance, risk management, and compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
* Support quality improvement activity, incident management, and learning processes.
* Act as a senior operational point of escalation.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Build strong relationships with internal leaders, clinicians, commissioners, and partners.
* Represent Minds at senior forums as required.
Person Specification
* Senior operational leadership experience within healthcare, mental health, or complex service environments.
* Demonstrable experience of systems transformation and operational change.
* Proven track record in developing new services and operationalising them successfully.
* Experience managing and leading teams at senior leadership level.
* Strong commercial and performance management capability.
* Experience working across children’s and adult services.
* Experience in private healthcare or mixed funding models.
* Change management or transformation qualifications.
