Are you looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people?

Whether you have experience working with children, supporting vulnerable adults, or a background in social care-or even personal experience with SEND-this could be an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career.

We are currently recruiting a Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Pupil Referral Unit in Southend. You will be part of a dedicated team supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

About the Role

* Provide one-to-one and small group support to students
* Support behaviour management and encourage engagement in learning
* Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
* Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff

What We're Looking For

* A positive, resilient, and proactive approach
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
* Relevant experience is advantageous, but not essential-attitude and commitment are key

Location

We welcome applications from candidates based in Southend and surrounding areas, including Chelmsford, Basildon, Benfleet, Wickford, Rayleigh, Canvey Island, Billericay, Stanford-le-Hope, and Grays.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment and are committed to supporting young people to overcome challenges and succeed.

Additional Information

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.

* Pay rates quoted include 12.07% statutory holiday pay
* This is a temporary position, with potential for a permanent opportunity
* All roles are subject to safeguarding checks in line with DfE guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education, which may include an online search
* An enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service is required (or willingness to obtain one)

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We offer all registered candidates free safeguarding and Prevent Duty training, along with ongoing support throughout your placement.

If you're ready to support, motivate, and inspire young people, we encourage you to apply today.
