About the Role-Advanced Social Work Practitioner
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Social Work Practitioner to join our client on 12‑week temporary basis, with the strong possibility of extension. You will manage a caseload of children experiencing complex situations while supporting and mentoring colleagues, newly qualified social workers, and students. This role is ideal for someone who brings confidence, strong practice skills, and a commitment to high‑quality social work.
Key Responsibilities-Advanced Social Work Practitioner
Complete high‑quality assessments and recommend effective plans and interventions.
Act as lead professional for complex child care cases, including looked‑after children.
Make sound professional decisions within delegated responsibility.
Work within statutory requirements, policies, and procedures.
Co‑work complex cases with other social workers.
Maintain accurate, timely electronic case records.
Prepare clear, evidence‑based reports for reviews, panels, and court.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to assess, plan, and monitor services.
Build strong professional relationships with children, families, and other professionals.
Practice Development & Support-Advanced Social Work Practitioner
Mentor and support newly qualified social workers and supervise students.
Provide professional guidance in reviews, panels, and court settings.
Contribute to team development through coaching, training, and sharing research and best practice.
Support the Team Manager with quality assurance and performance improvement.
Person Specification-Advanced Social Work Practitioner
Degree‑level qualification in Social Work.
Social Work England registration.
Extensive and recent post‑qualifying experience with children and families, including looked‑after children.
Experience managing complex cases and working effectively in challenging situations.
Strong knowledge of children’s legislation, government guidance, and current social work agendas, with a proactive approach to developing specialist knowledge.
Ability to mentor and support colleagues, including newly qualified workers and students.
Strong IT skills and willingness to develop them further.
Full driving licence.
Suitable to work with children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Ability to work openly, honestly, and professionally, ensuring the child’s voice is central to all work.
Strong relationship‑building skills and ability to instil confidence in service users.
Skilled in managing conflict and problem‑solving.
