The Centre for Wellbeing is looking to recruit Volunteer Counsellors from diverse backgrounds to support our students. This role is suitable for counsellors in training or qualified counsellors seeking experience of working in Higher Education and/or working towards accreditation.
The role
The counselling service at the Centre for Wellbeing has a well-established associate and placement counsellor scheme and is part of a vibrant team of counsellors and mental health practitioners promoting emotional, psychological, and physical health for staff and students and supporting retention, achievement, and satisfaction.
The role will offer counsellors the opportunity to gain experience of counselling in a team within Higher Education and to attend a substantial training programme relevant to counselling in Higher Education with a certificate of attendance.
You will provide brief counselling for up to 5 clients a day, one day a week from October 2024 – June 2025. We will support you throughout your time with us by providing free supervision on your placement day, expert help and guidance, and regular continuous professional development training.
The placement starts 26th September 2024 with training.
About you
To be eligible for this placement you must currently be training on a recognised course, must have 50 hours’ experience of providing 1-to-1 counselling and must have some understanding of short-term working.
